Just very tired, as always. So, it's been 7 months... sorry about that! Here's a quick recap of what's happened in those 7 months...

  • I did some giant chalkboard lettering for work
  • I did a watercolour course
  • I stepped up my lettering game
  • I started doing more illustration work
  • I bought a new camera which is my new fave thing
  • I joined Skillshare which I am LOVING
  • I made a huge life decision (more on that another time though...)
Basically, a LOT happened but I feel it's best we take things one step at a time so today let's talk about the first point: giant chalkboard lettering!

I was presented with the problem of a new digital space opening up at my work that was lacking an identity. I knew it was going to be called the 'Digital Garden' and after some sketching I thought about where you might find text in a garden. People use chalk and chalkboards in gardens because they're so easily changeable, much like the plants and shrubs in the wild, and are natural and blend so well with that environment. I pitched this idea because it blended my love for hand lettering with an idea I felt could really work in the space: a giant chalk board with illustrations that change and room for people to write their own thoughts, news and updates on. Here are some more photos from when the boards first went up:

As you can see, there were three unique boards that went up on each floor. It was halloween when they first went up, hence the spooky illustrations, but these have since come down and soon I will be updating with Christmas drawings.

I'll be sure to post more about these boards as they progress and if anyone would like a post on my process I'd be more than happy to share!

More posts coming soon with exciting news and projects I've been working on!
